The STRONG project
RADIATE

For Young People who want to stand up and be heard

These highly engaging workshops are aimed at developing participant confidence in public speaking, debating and presentation skills.
These workshops focus on developing effective communication skills, enhancing writing and speaking skills, and encouraging critical thinking and problem solving.
The aim of these workshops is to enable young people to radiate with confidence when they stand up to speak.
We support young people to move beyond technology in order to re-find ways to communicate face-to-face with peers, teachers, parents and their community.
Workshops are provided in a number of formats and can be configured to meet the needs of the school:

The STAND UP workshops

This program focuses on developing public speaking skills for students who may be lacking in confidence in this area.

Using drama games, journalism techniques and writing skills students are led through the process of creating and giving a speech from gathering information, writing and editing, to presenting.

The final session is a presentation to staff, parents and/or peers of a 3 minute speech.

Students will be expected to complete some tasks outside of session times.

Delivered in small groups of no more than 12 students these programs run for 1 or 2 terms with each session lasting between 50 – 60 minutes.

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands where I work and live. I pay my respects to the Elders of the past and those of the present.
I celebrate the stories, culture, knowledge and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
and acknowledge their deep connection to the land, rivers and oceans we are on.
I respect that this land always was and always will be traditional Aboriginal land and maintain the hope that we can work together to celebrate and truly acknowledge this fact.
